Planning

OVEG monitors every planning development in Oxhey. In conjunction with the residents affected by the development we fight inappropriate ones. We rarely intervene in minor developments such as small extensions and conservatories.

Development control in Watford is by a simple process where the applicant applies to the council for permission. This application is then scrutinised, initially by Development control, a group of employed Council Officers. They then either reject it or as in most cases make recommendations to the Development Control Committee.

There are a comprehensive set of planning guidelines set out in the Watford District Plan. These encompass a large number of factors. These include suitability of development to the area, access to the site, proximity to existing houses and effect on local conditions. This very large plan is available at the Town Hall and also can be found on the Watford Council Web site.

Plans of proposed developments may be viewed as hard copy at the Town Hall or can be found on the Government Planning service found on the web at www.UKPlanning.com . This is an excellent site showing both current proposed developments and past ones both rejected and passed.

Help may be obtained by any resident of Oxhey, suggested initially via this web site to the Village Liaison Officer Alan Luto or by direct contact on 01923 492876.

Planning Upates for August 2010

Taggers.

This development is at last under way. The Developers propose to have the demolition Lorries entering the site from Aldenham road and exiting across the top of the Council Car Park in Pinner road. This , assuming the Council approve, will cause the least traffic disruption. The final plans show besides the Flats one largish retail unit 168 sq m. and three small units of 37,52 and 57 sq m. and a fair sized rectangular “square” with entrances from both Aldenham Road and Pinner Road. Plans are available by e mail.

This has become a saga! There have been three planning applications. The first was refused. The second was refused and went to appeal. The appeal was adjourned when it was found that the Developer did not own all the land ! The Third application is held in Watford for a similar reason. As a matter of interest the planner had assumed that they owned the Council Car Park on Chalk Hill.
